On the past Sunday, the facilities were closed after measurements indicated the beginning of a gas leak.
“It is likely that the damage to both the gas pipeline and the communication cable is the result of external activities. The cause of the damage is still unclear, and the investigation is ongoing in cooperation,” said Finland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vlina Valtonen, who also mentioned that the two underwater connections were deliberately damaged.
