About a thousand companies are already compromised and have systems frozen by ransomware because of an attack by the REvil (or Sodinokibi) ransomware, allegedly controlled by Russian speakers. The estimate is from the company Huntress, which specializes in cyber counterattacks. These incidents are the result of the hacking of the update servers of Kaseya, a Florida-based provider of software for IT departments and managed service providers.
