The city government of Cartersville, Georgia, last year paid $380,000 to rescue its systems after a ransomware attack. The amount was paid in Bitcoins and there were also expenses of $7,755.65 paid in fees for the transactions and the traders. According to Keith Lovell, the City Attorney, the amount demanded by the hackers was initially $2.8 million.
